Energy Performance Certificates
An Energy Performance Certificate details a homes Energy Efficiency and its Environmental Impact.
The energy efficiency rating is a measure of the overall efficiency of a home. The higher the rating, the more efficient the home is and the lower the fuel bills are likely to be.
The environmental impact rating is a measure of the home's impact on the environment in terms of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. The higher the rating the less impact it has on the environment.
The results are illustrated in tables similar to those adopted for household appliances such as Washing Machines and Fridge Freezers.
The properties current performance rating is highlighted alongside its potential rating.
The report also provides recommendations which can be implemented in order to improve energy efficiency, prioritising low cost solutions before more expensive measures and renewable technologies.
The survey for the EPC must be completed by a qualified inspector who has been accredited through an approved scheme.
